I had a chance to travel to Finland and Norway in September. This is an image I painted of an ancient church built during Viking times along the coast of Norway. The coast and Fjords were beautiful and very dramatic.
It was a good summer for Plein Air Painting again. I entered Plein Air Easton! Quick Draw and managed to get this little oil painting done in the pouring rain as my sister held the umbrella over the painting. This is "Umbrellas at Mason's". It is 9" x 12", oil, SOLD.
I remember that day.....it's hard to forget. Another Easton 100 degree day and then the skies opened up on us. You were at Mason's and I was just up the street, painting with my wagon-load of pastels. Even with my umbrella up I was almost ready to throw the towel in and just stop the madness. I plowed on but a number of my Unison and Sennelier pastels were casualties. Exactly one week later .... same thing happening en plein air in a New Hope competition. Doesn't this stuff happen in 3s????
ReplyDeleteHi Dennis, so glad you've found my blog. I don't get to it too often. So sorry to hear about your beautiful pastels being casualties of that day -- what a mess! And sorry I didn't see you up the street. I was so focused on keeping me and my painting dry. Where are you off to next? Paint the Town Chestertown? I'm still deciding.
