Nana Jet and Jamieson

I painted this based on a photo of me and my grandson, Jamieson Berney.  We were hiking last summer on San Juan Island, in Washington State.  I just loved that hike and the sweet way he seemed to be "looking after" both me and his Grandpa Bob.

Out and About on the Eastern Shore!

These paintings are depictions of some of my favorite places, and things to do on the Eastern Shore of Maryland where I live.  The first two are acrylic paintings of the wildflowers and beaches of Chincoteague Island, a truly wild place where much of nature is preserved in a National Park for all to enjoy.  The third painting is a pastel of the soybean fields at Bloomingdale Farm in Queen Anne's County and the next is an oil of a friend on a kayaking expedition in Eastern Bay near Kent Island.  Finally, the last acrylic is one of my favorite restaurants in Easton, MD, Mason's.  Their patio is a delightful place to have lunch or an early supper.

Posting for Kent Island Federation of Arts

My art league, Kent Island Federation of Arts (KIFA) is celebrating 50 years in existence this year and many of us have contributed a 12 x 12 canvas to an auction fundraiser for KIFA.  This is my contribution.  I imagined a moonlit sky over the ocean. SOLD at KIFA Gala fundraiser!

Painting The Desert Southwest - Tucson Area

Posting some new paintings from my trip to the Southwest in January.  I loved the mountains and the desert scenery and cacti all around.  Here are a few paintings from that trip.

It's Been A Busy Year of Painting and Traveling

I had a chance to travel to Finland and Norway in September.  This is an image I painted of an ancient church built during Viking times along the coast of Norway.  The coast and Fjords were beautiful and very dramatic.

It was a good summer for Plein Air Painting again.  I entered Plein Air Easton! Quick Draw and managed to get this little oil painting done in the pouring rain as my sister held the umbrella over the painting.  This is "Umbrellas at Mason's".  It is 9" x 12", oil, SOLD.

Barns Are Some of My Favorite Subjects

These are several of the great old barns that are scattered over the countryside here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland where I live.  They make great fodder for painting.  The first one is on the Miles River in Talbot County and was done "en Plein Air" or right on the spot in the open air.  The second one is in a favorite spot where we go bicycling along Route 18 in Queen Anne's County.

A Few More

I just love these geraniums.  They were sitting in this old cheese can  and I spotted them while traveling in Turkey on one of the islands off the coast.  I thought it might be a nice contrast to the cooler wintery scenes below.
